Invasive Mosquitos Found in Livermore

Post Date:08/11/2025

The City of Livermore is sharing an important update from the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District (ACMAD) regarding the discovery of invasive Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. These mosquitoes, which are aggressive daytime biters, have been confirmed in two areas of the city: southeast of Jack Williams Park (Holmes Street & Alden Lane) and near Jack London Boulevard and Isabel Avenue.

To address this, ACMAD staff will be conducting door-to-door inspections to inspect yards in the affected neighborhoods. All staff will be in uniform, with official identification badges and marked vehicles, and are working to locate and eliminate standing water where these mosquitoes can breed. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with these inspections, which are a legitimate and crucial step in preventing the spread of the mosquito population.

The Aedes aegypti mosquito can breed in very small containers of water. Common hiding places for mosquitos include lawn drains, flower pots and saucers, buckets, and rain barrels.

For more information, residents can visit the ACMAD website at www.mosquitoes.org or call 510-783-7744.
